Responsible for technical leadership in the design, development, testing and deployment of Piedmont's Clinical Integration Trust (CIT) data warehouse, data mart and portal solution. Collaborates with functional teams to translate business requirements into efficient and effective data storage systems. Will design/develop appropriate dimensional modeling and ETL processes. Develops and implements systems to meet the information reporting needs of the Piedmont Clinic. Contributes to the development of the data warehouse strategy including systems development life cycle; resolution of issues with existing systems; and providing technical guidance to other team members. Develops high level and detailed designs for data warehouse ETL development including creation of data mappings and workflows, jobs scheduling, maintenance and enhancement of custom ETL code. Creates system documentation including: source to target data mapping, database design diagrams, programming specifications, etc. Develops and conducts system test plans and test cases. Provides technical support for the enterprise data warehouse, including the development of enhancement requests and defect resolution. Monitors, validates and tracks database backups, customized and scheduled jobs for production, QA and development environments. Collaborates with the Quality Project Specialists to gather user feedback on the functionality of the system and provide updates on key system changes. Performs periodic data warehouse recoveries, necessary database installations, configurations, patching and upgrades. Monitors database servers for unexpected errors/failures; performs maintenance related jobs like checkdb, re-indexing and update stats. Offers solutions for maximizing uptime for database server. Escalates data warehouse system issues and/or CIT opportunities to the Business Manager in a timely manner. Monitors data warehouse / database performance and engages in proactive steps to refine configurations as well as fine tune inefficient processes and queries. Develops notifications/alerts to proactively monitor the CIT system Supports the role of Business and Data Specialist. Evaluates the SQL Server Security model and suggests security guidelines to the end user. Strong leadership skills with the ability to adapt to challenges/changes and to mentor team members necessary. Ability to work effectively with business and technical stakeholders to present technical solutions. Strong analytic and problem solving skills. Must have strong communication, and analytics skills.  Ability to handle several assignments simultaneously. Ability to integrate business needs with the functional capability of software applications is required. Bachelor's degree  in Information Systems, Management/Business Administration, Project Management or other applicable field; Master's degree in any of these fields preferred. At least 5 plus years experience in data warehouse development and 2 plus years in a technical leadership capacity. Knowledge/experience with data warehousing concepts such as data modeling, data quality, SCD, ETL. Strong understanding of the ETL tools and their use; experience developing ETL code. Knowledge/experience with both Entity Relational Models and Dimensional Models. Understanding of database indexing and index optimization. Working knowledge of Business Intelligence (e.g. OLAP) tools. Extensive experience with SQL and ability to develop complex schemas. Basic understanding of operating systems and general understanding of network architectures. Thorough knowledge of database backup and recovery. Awareness of SQL Server related features e.g. log shipping, clustering and database mirroring. Considerable knowledge of and the ability to use databases, application development, report writer, word processing and spreadsheet software. Knowledge of Electronic Practice Management systems, Electronic Medical Record systems, and/or quality improvement tools is a plus.  Requires proficiency with: SQL Server 2005 - SSAS, SSIS, SSRS and SSMS, T-SQL Scripting. OLAP and OLTP database models, FTP Crystal Report Writer, GroupWise E-mail, Microsoft Excel, Word & Access.
